Animal testing for cosmetic products is cruel but why it is unnecessary?and any body can tell me why iit is necessary?

rosliza, I think with today’s advanced technology, there is no need to test on animals atleast for cosmetics anymore. That is the reason why, most products come with labels saying they were not tested on animals.

But for what reason they test cosmetic products on animal. And what can technology do to safe animal from being tested?:huh:

I have been reading over some sites on animal testing and have came across a few disturbing things. A lot of well known products have lost my custom! I am 13 years old and recently I have been doing a project for ICT at my school. It had to have bias in it and we had to choose a topic that you could find out about on the internet. I chose animal testing as most people believe that it is wrong but I don’t. I believe that testing cosmetics on animals is wrong but testing medicines and cures for diseases such as cancer, leukemia etc. is good. People have been saying that we should test these things on ourselves, though I doubt these people would be willing to have it done to them. If you were seriously ill would you rather one animal died and scientists found a cure, healing thousands of people or would you prefer it if you and the thousands of other people died?
Anyway, we do suffer for the animals. They don’t fall ill with HIV, Aids, leukemia or cancer whereas we do. This has turned out longer than I wanted it to be. I’m not saying that you have to agree with me, I’m just saying that you should actually think about it before you go writing things about protests etc. (sarah from 6th july)

I think that animal testing is really cruel. I think that there is plenty of other ways that products can be tested. I think it is so wrong for animals to get tested on. I mean why not do it to prisoners who are in jail for their life. They are just going to die anyway. and take a small mouse for exampe, if you injected that little mouses body the mouse would probly die, but if we did it to ourselves then it would only take a tiny tiny bit of our body and probably not harm us at all . so why do it to animals that will probly die when you can do it and not be affected hardly at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is so stupid what they do to animals. Hi, I don’t agree with using animal testing for laudry detergent, shampoo, make-up and stuff like that, but if animal testing could find a cure for something, I would stand behind it 100%. If I had a child with a disease and the only way that it could be cured is for experments to be taken on animals than I would beg them to proceed with any experiment on any animal. Any mother would tear an animal apart with her own hands if she knew it would save her childs life.

Procter and Gamble is the worst company for animal testing. Every year they kill thousands of animals just to make some money. Their products include IAMS dog food (ew, you should see what they do to the dogs- its disgusting and inhumane) Covergirl, Max Factor, Crest, and a whole bunch of other products. Its sickening. And the fact that there is safer alternatives to animal testing makes it even worse. Besides, animals and humans have totally different make ups, so they may not even have the same reaction to certain products as humans will. Even though animal testing with cosmetics may sound harsh , unfortunately the testing is nessary. One cosmetics testing cannot just stop or close down. Secondly there is no good alternate source for testing.

First of all, animals are the only things cosmetics can be tested on. Then there is no alternate way to do the testing, and if there is the another way to do testing it would not be as effective as with animals. Next some of the burns you see on rats and mice will be on humans if the cosmetics were not tested on animals.

Secondly, the animal testing is done on animals that already have some disease or disorder. Also if you are wondering why testing is done on rats, the answer is because rats multiply quickly and uncontrollably and if testing wasn’t done you might have rats in your house and nobody wants that to happen. (Do they?)

I’m writing a persuasive paper on animal testing and i have found so much information about animal testing, and ive learned that there are other alternatives that have been proven to be more accurate, efficient, and less expensive. I’d assume that companies that do test on animals know about these alternatives, but who knows why they havnt switched to them. For example if you are a girl (or even a boy) would you want bug guts and cow bone in your lipstick, chapstick, and lip gloss. Well cow bone and bug guts are there. Then there are other ways to to the testing other than to kill animals. You can use the body parts that are donated. And now we also have the technology to clone so for the testing you can clone skin cells and use them for testing. I hope i have made a point dont kill animals in the name of cosmetics.

Who cares about the animals. If they ever find the cure for cancer, what will a bit of testing really matter? We have to sacrifice some thngs for the greater good. Stupid animal rights activists can just shut the f**k up, those ass holes.

I am unhappy by some of the pictures i have seen of animals being tested on. I understand why the government wants animal testing but it is unfair to do something so horrible to a creature who is defensless. They do not get a say in things cause they can’t talk and they have to suffer for our benifit. Any normal person would see that that is wrong. Imagine you were one of those creatures in the cages. It’s wrong and you know it!

If companies can get on so well without testing then why do some companies keep doing it. Why can’t they understand that it is making a living, breathing thing suffer. I think people that work in such places are sadists (people who like making things suffer)

Animal testing is just wrong! I mean, those scientists are just hurting and killing animals.

Animals deserve the respect of humans. Just because they are not quite as intelligent as us or think about things like we do they are still living creatures and all living creatures deserve respect. Over 70 million animals a year are taken and tortured so that girls can wear make-up. Rabbits are routinely blinded, not for safety or testing purposes but for the companies safety. Don’t ask how that is suppose to work but they do it anyway. They say that it protects them from having complaints from customers… how could making hundreds of thousands of rabbits blind protect them. They are all off their frikin heads, talking about the stupidity of people testing cosmetics on animals makes me as mad as the devil. who ever came up with the idea of animal testing should be slapped so hard!!! They say that the world is becoming overpopulated, why can’t they ask for volentiers or grow tissue in labs…. they are d*$k heads, the lot o them!

I am 15 and doing an essay on animal testing for english class. After I read the paragraph up top I was incomplete shock cause I had no idea that it has gotten that bad. I think that it should be stoped now before they hurt anymore animals. I still can’t believe that companies would do it even though they don’t have to do it.

I am 13 years old and I am doing an essay on this topic and I found this site for research. I never knew that animal testing was this crucial. And my teacher always tells me that animals have no rights…or souls…so it doesnt matter. I totally disagree with my teacher and believe there is something to be done. This should be taken more seriously and be taken to an end.

I dont understand, companies still use cosmetic testing on Animals even though Alternatives have been made. I know Pamolive-Colgate are killers for it, so dont buy their products and then hopefully they will learn. Thank goodness there has been a decrease in the number of animals hurt, but look at the number of alternatives we had, but still they choose to put animals through pain.

hey, even thoguh I think animal testing is wrong. But in my recent debate project, I changed my mind a little bit. Animal testing is wrong, but it doesn’t really do any harm at all, scientist could still balance the ecosystem very well. And if you are buying a product, you would probably want to know if the product is safe to use or not right? Without testing the product on animals, who knows what the side effect or harm there will be.

i have a lot of animals and having people waisting their time and money for others to be beautiful is just plain sick. animals should have the right to say no too, that is why we are trying to speak out for them. Every one is saying “oooh animals are nothing like humans, you cant compare them” well yes i can, they feel just like we do, they get scared, and protect their young, just as we do.
i say if they want to test a product this bad, that they test it on humans. Thier lives are being stolen from them, because we are greedy!

animal testing is unnecessary…with all the technology these days it is pointless to still use them after all its not a law i mean animals dont want to wear make-up so why are they tested on for it:huh:

this has really helped me, as i have to do a project on this and it has made me think how much they are going through we have to stop it before they start to kill and test on more animals.:angry:

I think that animal testing isn’t all that bad and I think that most of you people are exzagerating, We eat animals don’t we? We wear animal skins don’t we? What’s so different about performing tests on animals??
Why should we car about animals when there are starving people in our world, people dieing for no reason!! I can understand that people can care about their animals but Would you rather your best mate die of cancer or a thousand mice be sacrificed?

k, I just stumbled on this… first of all, everyone seems to assume that testing always includes killing the animal… from a non scientific perspective, probably an animal isn’t much good to you for testing if you kill it… and how exactly do you kill an animal with shampoo? I’m sure that animal cruelty does exist, but I have a hard time believing that these scientists enjoy killing little doggy’s in their labs if it doesn’t give them credible information. Why would companies pay people to do scientists if they weren’t getting information from the studies beneficial to us??? this all seems way to tree huggerish for me, but if there is a problem, I’m all for solving it. Isn’t it already a law to say whether things were tested on animals? the fda is corrubt enough I can believe it. Heck, they’re still letting these companies put that one poison.. what’s it called… aspartame.

For my project i had to look for some pictures and i couldn’t believe wat i saw i was grossed out just lookin at wat they do to them and how they have no feelins for them at all. the poor animals go through pain and suffering every day, it’s not right:angry: something should be done about it……. so stop keelin animals for medical research
