Pakistan, U.S. ally on terrorism!
Here is what they are doing now - are we still supposed to trust them and believe they want nothing but peace?
Pakistan frees former Lashkar chief
Pakistan on Thursday freed Hafiz Mohammed Sayeed, former head of the Lashkar-e-Tayiba.
He is the second terrorist to be released in the past two days.
Sayeed was delivered to his home in Lahore before dawn after five months in custody.
A dozen policemen surrounded Sayeed's home, barring the entry of supporters and journalists who had converged there.
Here is an idea - No more virgins for you!
I say it serves them right!
Chechen Terrorists to be Buried in Pigskin
According to the Moskovski Komsomol newspaper, Russian security forces have decided to bury the terrorists from last's week's hostage siege wrapped in pig's skin. The aim is to deter potential Islamic terrorists from future attacks.
Shahidi (Jihad martyrs) believe by their nefarious acts that they ascend immediately to heaven. Using their beliefs against them, wrapping their corpses in 'unclean' pigskin prevents them from entering heaven for eternity.
Bappi Lahiri Sues the group Truth Hurts
The group Truth Hurts have lifted a hindi tune Thodasa Resham Lagta hai
which was originally composed by the famous Hindi Musician Bappi Lahiri
in their new single Addictive which has already sold over 600,000
copies. They have not taken any sort of permissions and have superimposed
their song on the whole Hindi track. For full Story see
Indian Composer sues Truth Hurts
Update: What is ironic about the suit is that, if you observe the songs that Bappi Lahiri composed closely, you will notice that 80% of them are obvious copies of Western songs - for example, "Koi yahan" in the movie "Disco Dancer" is an exact copy of the song "Video Killed the Radio Star".

Diyas at Westminster
Never before in the history of the centuries-old British Parliament has any Indian religious festival ever been celebrated in its premises. But in what marks a history-making departure, over 120 MPs cutting across party lines will be gathering in the Members’ Dining Room of the House of Commons to celebrate the “Festival of Lights” which they say in reality celebrates understanding and tolerance among communities.
Another Diwali celebration has been scheduled by the Labour Friends of India, which has a membership of over 120 MPs and Peers, in the Atlee Suite.
Crappiest season start ever?
I couldn't sleep very well last night, and woke up around 12:30 in the night, so I thought I could catch the second half of the Lakers-Spurs game - Man, did that suck! They were both in their 40's when I started looking, and were shooting in the 30%s. This was about 4 minutes into the 3rd quarter. I know I am a spoiled Mavs' fan, but still, it looked like a pickup game, not a regular season game between two of NBA's superpowers. Shaq was missing, Tim Duncan was 3 of 14, Toy Parker 0 of 9...Kobe was the only star who actually showed up to play. Of course, Spurs' bench really kept the game going - Ginoboli and Speedy Claxton were both revelations and fun to watch - They had a very good game. The fouls sucked and seemed to very biased against the Lakers - the Spurs won, but it must have been a hollow victory.

Gender of a Computer?
A language teacher was explaining to her class that in French, nouns unlike their English counterparts, are grammatically designated as masculine or feminine.
"House" in French, is feminine -"la maison," "Pencil" in French, is masculine "le crayon."
One puzzled student asked, "What gender is computer?" The teacher did not know, and the word was not in her French dictionary.
So for fun she split the class into two groups appropriately enough, by gender and asked them to decide whether "computer" should be a masculine or a feminine noun.
Both groups were required to give four reasons for their recommendation.
The men's group decided that computer should definitely be of the feminine gender ("la computer"), because
1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic
2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else
3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later review
4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheque on accessories for it.
The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be masculine ('le computer") because:
1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on
2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves
3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem
4. As soon as you commit to one, you realise that if you had waited a little longer you could have gotten a better model.
The women won.

Reiki in my Life
Forty days back I was almost an atheist. I never really gave much thought to religion or spirituality. Though my sister(Shanti) and my
mother were strict followers of rituals and poojas, I never bothered about such things. I am not a person who follows something blindly just because someone asked me to, I need to know the reasons behind them. Honestly I thought poojas and stuff were a real pain and participated only for the satisfaction of my mother. You could find me in the temples praying only in exams time or when I wanted something like most people. I was very materialistic and considered spirituality as something to be pursued in the old age. That was all before reiki came into my life. Everything changed, my priorities, my life......
My introduction to Reiki was a result of a series of unbelieveable coincidences. I've never heard of the word "Reiki" until six months ago and then too did not give it much thought. I thought it was also something like Yoga, Feng Shui, Acupuncture etc. I wont go into the details of the coincidences but will just say that a stranger I met accidentally suggested that I go try out Reiki. She said that Reiki
instilled a lot of confidence in her and that it is good and relaxing. At that time I was a lot into personality development so I thought i'd
give it a try. Also because (I'm ashamed to confess) learning reiki was a cheaper option to joining in a personality development course. I had absolutely no idea what reiki was!
At the appointed time I went to the house and was received by my Reiki guru Mrs.Chandra Kumari. She was a nice lady and she started the class by explaining that Reiki means Universal Life Force. She said that this life force surrounds us and we humans can use it to heal ourselves and that she is going to teach us how to use draw this life force and use it. It sounded too fantastic to me but I kept an open mind. Later she took me to a room for initiation. She asked me to close my eyes. She clanged some bells and I started wondering what was all this about. Then she placed her hands on my head when I felt a lot of energy flowing, it was very strong and I felt very emotional. She did it a couple of times and then she placed her finger on my forehead (third eye region) I clearly felt a crackling energy at that point. I could only wonder 'is this really happening?', it was so incredible. She later taught us how to apply reiki to our bodies and how to heal. I felt very peaceful. The next day also was full of unbelievable experiences. Then I got my first degree in reiki method of healing.
I was giving reiki to myself everyday. But I never had any health problems before and wasnt sure if reiki was really passing through my
palms as I could not feel much difference except that I felt more relaxed and peaceful. But my way of thinking changed and suddenly I was all into spirituality, I digged into all of my dad's old philosophy books and suddenly they started making a lot of sense. Initially I
never linked this change in attitude to reiki. After about five days I suddenly broke down as I realized that God really exists, It was not a rational conclusion but I just knew He was there all along only I never really looked. I started having visions and various
experiences. My intuitive powers have also improved dramatically.
My first healing experience came after about 10 days. My father suffers from high blood pressure. That day he was having very high blood pressure and did not take any food also. He was burning with a high temperature and was feeling very restless. I thought I'd see if reiki would be of any help (Neither my father nor me really believed that it would be of any help). I put my hands below the nape of his neck and concentrated on sending reiki.I was shocked to feel my hands attatched to him like magnets and energy was flowing through my palms so vigorously. After a few min my fingers started paining and I couldnt handle it, and withdrew my hands. After ten minutes I again gave him some more reiki. In half an hour his body temperature went down, he felt very hungry and had his dinner. His blood pressure went down and he slept soundly that night. It was a miracle to both me and my father. My father who till then thought that reiki was crap, became an ardent believer in it. At around the same time I gave my cousin reiki to her knee pain and it disappeared in three min. I personally could feel the warm energy whizzing into her knee through my palm. She was also so
charged after this incident she also took her first degree in reiki recently.
I'll share some more experiences of mine in reiki next time and also try to give an outline of how exactly it works.I would also like to add that there are many fake reiki masters who dont have the capacity to empower students, so before enlisting in a reiki course its better to do some background checks on the master.
Kings, Mavs, Spurs only threat to L.A.'s throne
A very nice analysis on ESPN about why each of the above teams can and cannot "Beat LA!", here.
Go to any NBA city outside Los Angeles and the chant is always the same: Beat L-A!
But can anyone, in 2002-03?
Stop Shaquille O'Neal and you stop the Lakers. Good luck.
We're not exactly revealing a secret, but probably not. Don't take our word for it. Listen to Isiah Thomas, the Pacers' coach who knows something about winning titles and playing against dynasties.
"It all depends on Shaq," he said. "He's the only guy that I've seen in the time since I've been in the league that no one has a matchup for. He's the most dominant and best player in the NBA right now. It's a tall order to beat them because you can't do it with one player. You have to have a team. I don't see a person in the West, yet, who can match up with Shaq, or a team that has come up with some kind of defense to stop him."

Forget Miss World contest, Miss India urged
Women's rights activists are urging Miss India to give up aspirations of fame and join the boycott of this year's Miss World pageant in Nigeria over the sentencing of a single mother to death by stoning.
Miss India Shruti Sharma plans to attend the controversial December 7 pageant in Nigeria.
"We would really like her to join the boycott of the pageant and demand that Nigerian authorities annul the death sentence given to Amina Lawal," said Shalini Singh, convenor of a Delhi-based non-governmental organisation, Empowering Women Today.
"It is a serious issue. When so many Misses around the world have taken up the fight why should Miss India ignore the cause? It would be a sad comment on India if Shruti opted for the frippery in Nigeria in the face of such a burning issue."

Three phone calls and a fingerprint
A very interesting story behind the catching of the sniper.....
Three phone calls and a fingerprint
It came down to three calls, out of the 90,000 tips sent in from a terrified region and a shocked nation. One came from a man in Tacoma, Wash., who reported strange behavior by a trigger-happy neighbor. One from a sincere-sounding priest near Richmond. And one, police said, came from the sniper himself.

Jesus' brother's remains found?
A burial box has been discovered which is believed to be the earliest archaelogical link to Jesus Christ. The box is dated to 63A.D, approximately after three decades of crucifixation of Christ. On it was the inscription "James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus" that also leads us to the question of whether Jesus had a brother. For full story see Archaelogical evidence to Jesus?

Suman Palit again!
Suman Palit has another very interesting piece in Satya Circle about how so-called Greens and their activism affects agriculture in India.
Watermelon Activism and the Future of Indian Agriculture
Green activism in India and across much of the world has unfortunately been replaced by watermelon activism: green on the outside, red on the inside. Dominated by a mélange of fierce anti-globalists, neo-socialists, free-market critics, and Gaia evangelists, this is the new face of environmental activism. Clouded in large part by the precautionary principle,[3] which is an extreme example of risk-averse behavior, they lead the neo-Luddite opposition to scientific advances in crop genetics, nanotechnology, genome research, cloning, you name it. The potential to damage Indian agriculture and the economy is dangerously real.
Biotech crops are perhaps the most misunderstood entity in any debate about the environment. Its opponents conjure images of Franken-foods,[4] and posit as-yet-unknown harm that might be caused by gene-spliced crops interbreeding with surrounding species. While this imagery is provocative, and deserves some attention, public health policy decisions need to be based on sound, scientific principles, and not on quasi-religious aversion to technology and ad hominem attacks on scientists and biotech supporters.
Is it possible for India to invade Pakistan with Israel's support?
Suman Palit has some exhaustive analysis on the topic here.
Don't mess with American....Moms?!
Lileks is his usual eloquent self as he describes how the sniper, if his Islamic connection is true, will have pissed off the fiercest of them all....soccer moms! Read the whole thing here.
Just passed the TV, and they’re looking for a fellow named John Mohammed. And I wonder again what I would feel like were I one of those live-and-let-live Muslims who don’t want to tamp their faith down the kaffir’s throat with a rifle butt. A devout Christian would wince to learn that the authorities wanted to talk to Bob Jesus about some random slayings for the glory of God: talk about “Not in My Name.” Or His. If this is Islamic terrorism, then they’ve made another characteristically stupid move: that line about “your children are not safe anywhere anytime” is the sort of thing that shoves otherwise peaceable soccer moms into the Bellicose Women Brigades. Pop off a round at an elementary school in Minneapolis on behalf of Jihad, and suddenly a lot of good Linden Hills liberal moms are going to be less inclined to attend the church-sponsored appearance by a survivor of the Jenin Massacre.
We don’t dress up our children in dynamite belts - and they think this makes us weak. We shield our children from death, not marinate them in its bloody juices, and they think this means we lack conviction. Morons. Come after our children, and you don’t know what you’re in for. You heard the part about awakening a sleeping giant? The sleeping giantess is the one you want to look out for, because she’ll tear off your head and lactate down your throat. Do not mess with American moms.
And then there are these...
...these despicable excuses for human beings, who slaughter women and children and hope for salvation - I have nothing but contempt for them.

AsianWeek - White male asiaphile murders innocent asian girl
Message:
http://www.modelminority.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=181
Lili Wang was killed while playing tennis.
Lili Wang, a 31-year-old computer science graduate student at North Carolina State University, was murdered last week by Richard Borrelli Anderson, a white classmate who had become infatuated with her. Wang was already married (to another Chinese American), but this fact did nothing to deter Anderson's advances, which appear to have been racially motivated. According to press reports, Anderson had confided to a colleague that he liked Asian women because "they study hard, and they're very nice, soft speaking."
Although no definitive conclusions can be drawn from these press reports, if it is the case that Anderson singled Wang out first as the target of his unwanted advances, and then for murder, because of her race, then the crime should be reported and recognized as a hate crime. We are petitioning the law enforcement community to urge that a formal investigation be opened on the question of Anderson's possible racial motivation. Even if Anderson cannot be brought to trial, recording the murder as a hate crime will serve as a precedent to educate the legal system about the potentially tragic consequences of the model minority stereotype and other subtle forms of racial discrimination against the Asian American community.
Do you even read what you write, or can't your mind think beyond, white man, Asian girl, so gotta be racism? I quote your article "Anderson had confided to a colleague that he liked Asian women because "they study hard, and they're very nice, soft speaking." " - He said nice things about her - understand? nice things! He killed her because he was infatuated with her, going by the article in your source. How do you classify this as a hate crime apart from the fact that every murder is a hate crime? Nothing in the article is remotely suggestive of a hate crime in your sense of the word. Think before you talk next time, and you might actually be taken seriously. If you cry "wolf" too often, you know what happens.
Please don't get defensive. An innocent woman was brutally murdered here and it's disrespectful.
The paragraphs I posted were taken directly from the article referenced. Did you even read the article before you responded so harshly?
There is nothing for me to get defensive about, since I am South-east Asian myself. Secondly, I did not say anything disrespectful about the poor murdered woman. I said either designate every murder as a hate crime, or this is not a "hate" crime. This is a crime - it is not a "hate" crime.....
It is not just the West's problem - it is Russia's, China's, India's Israel's....let me just say the world's! Chechen terrorists? read that as Islamist whack-jobs.

Pak Christian massacre survivor disappears : HindustanTimes.com
One of two survivors of last month's massacre of Christian charity workers in Karachi has disappeared after his release from police custody, his family and lawyer said on Wednesday.
"I have no idea where he is and I am concerned now about his whereabouts," said his wife Elisabeth Robin.
"I have contacted my family members and they too have no idea," she said.
Robin Piranditta, a witness to the massacre, was rearrested in dramatic fashion on Tuesday after a high court had declared his detention illegal. He was then formally declared a suspect in the September 25 execution-style murder of seven Christians.
Police pounced on him immediately after he emerged from a courtroom, beating and dragging him to a waiting van, witnesses said.

Did the Nelsons really break rules?
A skewering article about the fines levied by NBA on the Mavericks' Nelsons due to their conduction "illegal workouts" for draft-ineligible kids in Yogoslavia.
NBA Punishes Nelsons For 'Traveling'
In the gym that night happened to be a kid named Darko Milicic, a 7-0 center labeled by some “the LeBron James of Europe.’’ Milicic will not be eligible for the draft until 2003 (or 2004, which is another story entirely).
And there’s your reason for a competitor to squeal.
Milicic. … Milicic. … recognize the name? You should. He was in Dallas for the Global Games, the international tournament held here in the summer to showcase young talent. The volunteer supervisor of the Global Games?
Donnie Nelson. (Oh, and I met Darko, too. Nice kid. Tall. But I didn't tamper, I promise.) And as soon as somebody realizes that connection – despite the fact that in my personal observation Donnie was so busy during the Global Games running stats and getting guys towels and pouring water and making hotel accomodations that he never spent a minute "recruiting'' Darko – the Mavs will probably get slapped again.
And wait until the league finds out that Donnie is considering that post as head of the Mexico Basketball Federation! Think of all the 12-year-olds that he’ll volunteer to help, and all the trouble that’ll cause! In fact, heck, if you assess Donnie a two-game suspension for his work in Yugoslavia, you might as well get him two more for the connections he’s made in China, two more for Germany, two more for Mexico. … the league needs a total of 41 countries and Donnie can sit out the whole year!
Osama's Doctor?
I posted yesterday about a doctor caught allegedly supplying anthrax to militants in Pakistan - turns out he might have been Osama's doctor too.
Pakistani doctor held for treating Osama
A top Pakistani surgeon was arrested in Lahore on Monday for allegedly treating Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
Orthopaedic surgeon Amir Aziz was arrested from his Ghurki hospital and was being questioned by Federal Bureau of Investigation and Pakistani officials at an unknown location, reports said on Tuesday.
Dr Aziz, who was questioned in the past for treating Al Qaeda and Taliban men during his visits to Kabul, is also suspected of having helped the two groups make the deadly biological agent, anthrax.

RSS rejects Sena call for Hindu suicide squad
New Delhi, Oct 21
The Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh on Monday rejected calls by Shiv Sena leader Bal Thackeray for Hindu suicide squads. Thackeray had last week said Hindus must make the "supreme sacrifice" to combat "Islamic terrorism."
But the RSS said Monday that while Thackeray's proposal was "a reaction to Islamic fundamentalist terrorism that has played havoc in the country," it ran counter to the tenets of Hinduism.
"Hindu suicide squads are not permissible. No Hindu scripture gives sanction to such terrorist activities," RSS spokesman M G Vaidya told the Press Trust of India news agency.
Thackeray is facing hate speech charges by police in Mumbai over his call for suicide squads. "At a time when even the temples are not safe and the government is failing to fight terrorism, the only way out is suicide squads of Hindus that can take on the might of Islamic terrorism," Thackeray wrote last week in his newspaper 'Samna'.

Sify News: US deliberately leaked report on Pak nukes US deliberately leaked report on Pak nukes
Washington, Oct 21
A leading geopolitical analytical firm dubbed the leak of report to New York Times on Pakistan supplying nucler technology to North Korea as a subtle attempt by the US to make sure that President Pervez Musharraf remained co-operative in the battle against al-Qaeda.
The timing of the leak is telling, said the report by Stratfor. It comes soon after Pakistan's October 10 elections, which boosted the power of Islamist parties.
''By linking the North Korean nuclear weapons programme to Islamabad, Washington raises the threat that economic-military sanctions could be levied against Pakistan,'' the report said.

A-mo(c)king Emil - II
Lucky me. I got Emil Guillermo's latest piece of drivel in print, even before they put it online - It is still not online. So, let me share with you a few juicy bits and pieces. This column in short, is about how un-APA(that means Emil)-friendly that Feds are making airports by firing all the Filipino immigrants and filling the posts with white men - confused? you will not be anymore, once you read his column. Let's go!
And here at home? I dread to think. Last weekend a guy in Atlantic City, N.J. was arrested and held on $100,000 bail after federal screeners found some unusual things in his backpack: a pair of scissors embedded in a bar of soap, and two box-cutters in a lotion bottle.
There is no mercy in these guilty-until proven-innocent times.
Ok, so this guy was caught by the screeners trying to smuggle illegal items on board and so he was arrested. What was wrong with that? When you do something illegal, you get arrested - as simple as that.
Expect a lot more of these storie in the coming weeeks as the airports become federalized and those "wimpy" immigrant screeners get replaced by a new type of profile - mostly white, ex-jock law enforcement guys who appear to be on steroids.
In other words, big bulky, don't-mess-with-me types. The kind of fellas who probably will have a hard time distinguishing your walkman from a detonation device, and no doubt dutifully be forced to run their fingers through your underwear in the name of national security.
Huh? How did I miss those recruitment ads? "Wanted: white, ex-jock law enforcement guys who appear to be on steroids, to work as a federal screener". You can see the white-hate oozing through the slime that used to be his brain. Let me think now, Emil - you are probably a short, puny, whiny punk, who sucked at sports and wishes he was born white. Am I right? How did I know? Don't ask.
As the feds take over, count on the G-Men to make a public relations splash. After-all, they need to make the government's case that there was good reason these guys replaced these aging, seemingly ineffectual, mostly accented Filipino immigrants.
So, that's what it's all about now? aging "Filipino immigrants"? What injustice! The problem is, Emil, no one is going to take you seriously until you can throw these little things called statistics, you know, maybe to show how many "Filipino immigrants" work as screeners, how many will be replaced, how many "white ex-jocks" will be taking their positions, and so on. I understand you may not have the latter numbers yet. How about an example of how federalization brought about similar events in any other industry?
And darn it, anybody who dares to put SCISSORS in a bar of soap (whoever heard of that?) will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. At the very least, for STYLE VIOLATIONS!
Just like that poor guy in Atlantic City who probably thought he had come up with a Heloise-like way to carry scissors in a backpack safely.
Ah! But it was not just the scissors now, was it, Emil? There were box-cutters involved too, which anybody with a mental age of over 8 knows were the weapons used by terrorists on 9/11. I knew you wouldn't want to mention that, I can understand it is hard to defend schmucks.
And then he goes on and on about all the fired are Filipino non-citizens and all the people hired are mostly white (he still won't show any statistics backing him up - I guess, in his view, if oyu are not Filipino, you must be white). But wait, he talks about a young Filipino who was hired - he doesn;t like that too. Apparently the young guy hired can't speak good English. Well, well, well! Make up your mind, Emil! Is it good or bad to hire Filipinos? Also, why is this all about Filipinos? What about Chinese? Japanese? Indians? Next time you want to pass off your putrid imagination as fact, remember - we are watching you!

Love in Singapore?
Cupid govt encourages Singaporeans to mate

Alarmed by growing numbers of single women and an ageing population, Singapore will embark on a novel campaign to promote romance in the city-state and encourage unmarried people to mate and multiply.
A "Romancing Singapore" campaign is to be launched next February -- the month best known for Valentine's Day -- to promote love and marriage, prompting some singles to ask the government to please leave them alone.
Already famous for "social engineering" programmes in many aspects of life, Singapore officials have long been concerned about the declining fertility rate but a survey released in September worried them even more.
The Ministry of Community Development and Sports (MCDS) found in the survey of 1,481 respondents that single women in their 30s are less interested in marriage than their male counterparts.
Only half of the females expressed their desire to get married compared to 87 percent for men in the same age group.
The government hopes Singapore will become a tropical love nest in February with its romance campaign but it has tantalised people by declining to release details in advance.
MCDS Minister of State Chan Soo Sen was reported to be urging women in their 30s not to give up hope, and to take the initiative to express their feelings for the men they fancy.
This proved to be more than provocative to some single women who wrote letters of protest to the Straits Times, the affluent island's main newspaper.
Some felt officials were trivialising the dating process by micro-managing citizens' romantic lives and even encouraging them to attend a class by the Social Development Unit, a government-supported dating agency, to teach couples how to arouse each other.
"Expecting them to express their feelings because of a campaign is just another slap in the face that will exacerbate the stigma, and discourage rather than encourage people to be honest with their feelings," letter writer Elaine Ong said.
Another complainant, Lena Soh, said "the personal and private affair of settling down with a loved one is now intertwined with the destiny of a nation and we, the singles, have to bear the brunt of social stigmatisation."
But other single women interviewed by AFP supported the campaign, which they say will help widen their network of friends, but all felt no urgency to get married, preferring to wait for the right one.
A 28-year-old accounts manager who asked to be named only as Angela said: "I do want to get married one fine day when the right one comes along but I wouldn't want to rush myself into a relationship. If it comes along, it comes along."
Angela has set tough standards for her suitors. "I'm waiting for the better than average," she said, adding, "you want better and better, so you never settle down."
Her friend, Yasmeen Hameed, 28 and also single, said they want to get married but complains the pool of eligible bachelors is limited.
"I think it's easy for people to talk and ask people to get married. Of course, if I find someone I love, I'll settle down. There's really not many people we can choose from," Yasmeen said.
The "Romancing Singapore" campaign is in part seen as the government's way of correcting a highly competitive economic climate which has turned people into money-driven workaholics with little time for romantic interests.
A 30-year-old systems analyst, Robbie, said Singapore had become too much of a status-conscious society. "I'm not blaming the government for everything. There's a price to pay. A lot of my peers are not married. We are focusing on our career, so maybe the cost of it is the lack of a social life," she added.
Another single, Maria, 28, a human resources manager, applauds the government's ingenuity in helping singles get hitched.
"Perhaps there are a lot of people out there who are waiting for such a day to come when someone will take the stand and organize such an event," she said of the love-fest campaign.
Why does US still treat Pakistan as an ally?
Al-Qaeda re-establishing camps in Pak : HindustanTimes.com

Washington, October 20
Al-Qaeda terrorist network is re-establishing camps in Pakistan, where men are being trained in bombing and using mines, US security sources in Afghanistan said.
The camps in Pakistan around the town of Mirim Shah "have the same infrastructure they had in Afghanistan. A lot of it has just moved east. They continue to recruit from the young impressionable men in the area," Time magazine quoted Capt Patrick Willis of the 82nd Airborne in southern Afghanistan as saying.
A very interesting development, this. Is the US still supposed to be friends with Pakistan?

US forces begin vacating Karachi airport
The International Security Assistance Force, which used Karachi airport as a transit base for its Afghan operations, has decided to vacate it after pro-Taliban parties in Pakistan stepped up their demand for the US to leave Pakistani airbases.
The ISAF has informed the Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority about its decision.
