Whew! Did my boys - the Mavs - deliver or what! Dirk! I bow before you and hope to see many more of such games in the future. I am just totally exhausted and my throat is still sore from all the screaming I did at the TV. I am still celebrating!
Mavs in 6 at the most, baby! In 4 if Bradley brings his A game every night and Nash and Finley shake the rust off :)

Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Sore throat:
The Mavs owe the Clippers a hearty “Thank You” for pushing the Lakers into 5th. And the T’Wolves just can’t catch a break.

LOL, Chris - I agree :) All I could think of was another year - another first-round play-off exit for Kevin Garnett - poor thing!
Posted by: Shanti at April 20, 2003 1:23 PM
This one really hurts, too. They fought for home-court in the first round, were all set vs the blazers…
So, how much did Cuban pay Portland to tank that game? ;)
Posted by: Chris C. at April 20, 2003 3:33 PM
I doubt if you can measure in cash what Cuban may have paid the Blazers - I am thinking green, but of the “grass” variety, knowing how the tendencies of the “Potland” Trailblazers go ;)

Are you making a comment on the Mav’s chances in the playoffs? After all, wouldn’t his color commentary be something like “The glorious Dallas Mavericks have soundly beaten the infidel LA Lakers at the Staples Center!”
I’m soooooo dead now, aren’t I _
Posted by: Chris C. at April 21, 2003 10:04 AM
LOL, Chris! I would suggest that the T’Wolves hire him for now :D “Kevin Garnett single-handedly beat Shaq and Kobe and the infidel Lakers in hand-to-hand combat!”
(you have to tell me what is your favorite team - this is no fair beating up on my boys without giving me a chance to exact revenge [mean grin])
Posted by: Shanti at April 21, 2003 10:46 AM
Don’t have a favorite, really. I grew up in Hawaii, so I don’t have a “hometown team.” And while I live in the Boston area, I can’t stand the current Celtics. I make a decent stand in for a Lakers fan, though. _
Posted by: Chris C. at April 21, 2003 1:35 PM
Oh, a Lakers fan! Hmmm…… That is serious - we allow no quarter for Laker fans in the Mavs land! :)
Posted by: Shanti at April 21, 2003 2:08 PM
I’d be more scared if the Mavs would stop channelling the French every time they played at Staples. _
Of course, now karma will catch up to me and the T’Wolves will rally to knock the lakers out. Or something.
Posted by: Chris C. at April 21, 2003 3:36 PM
Heh! What do you expect from a team with two Frenchmen and a Canadian? Atleast our best player is a German ex-army man ;)
As for the Karma part, did you know that the TrailBlazers were knocked out of the playoffs for the last four seasons by the team that eventually won the championship? History is never wrong, Ha Ha! (all 20 fingers crossed)
Posted by: Shanti at April 21, 2003 3:47 PM
So then the Blazers are going to knock off the Mavs and Kings, before losing to the lakers in the Western Conf. Finals?
C’mon, you KNEW that was coming
Posted by: Chris C. at April 21, 2003 6:14 PM
You know what, this was precisely what my husband said when I told him this. He said “I guess that means the Mavs are not going to win the series” :(
Posted by: Shanti at April 22, 2003 7:22 AM
That was a great game. Mavs played well, and I’m really looking forward to the rest of the series… but my money’s on the Stars! Another excellent series against Edmonton. Now I hope they do to Anaheim what Anaheim did to Detroit.

:) I know - the game was so much fun, it sucks that we have to wait till tomorrow for the next game. I am happy too that the Stars took it from the Oilers.
Go Stars and Mavs! :)

Game two went Mavs way! I think a solid offensive contribution from the Big 3 with support from bench (Najera, Van Excel) is the ideal path for the Mavs …

Oh, I totally agree - wasn’t it cool? I was so scared for a while there when the Blazers were 75-72 over us. I almost thought that was it for the game.
I am also liking what I see from Bradley so far. I don’t understand what Nellie is saving TAW/Walt/Raja/Esch for, though. I think they need a little more PT, just so the Big 3 can get a little rest.

I think Nelly should always keep Bradley in control, with a stick or something!! Now you can really see “play-off” type action from the Blazers … (I am damned to miss the action TV since I moved out US a while ago) I think they will try that “Soft White Boys” image on the Mavs. I am sure we stand upto them.

Nick and Bradley have been stepping up pretty good - Even Najera is picking fights with Dale Davis, so I don’t think the Blazers are looking at us going “soft, white boys” any more. At least, they wouldn’t if they had any sense in their heads :)

Great to know that Mavs are stepping (too bad these things don’t appear in nba.com!!) … Then it should be a Mavs juggernaut all the way to meet the Kings!!
Posted by: L. at April 25, 2003 7:53 AM
I really hope so, L - I do. It is the Kings that I am more afraid of than the Blazers anymore.

Unless Dallas goes to the East, we got to face Spurs/Kings/Lakers before the finals. Considering the seedings, Lakers will be ideal for us … But, against us they seem to get it right always … If you remember what Shaq said after the final regular season game: The Maverick Centers (esp. Bradley) were crying like … That was a monster game from him. So, I think we might as well face the Kings or the Spurs. One more thing if you notice, in the regular-season games against them, we were able handle Duncan, but Tony Parker somehow did it. Similarly against Kings, Webber and Divac were fouled out, but that stupid Jackson did the damage!! twice!!! So, hold your breadth!!!

How can I forget Keon Clark and his last-minute put-downs in the 2nd and 3rd games that gave it all to Sacramento!
As for Lakers, I am wondering if they will get out of the first round, now that they are down 1-2 with Minnesota.
