The Islamic jihadi terrorist groups active in different parts of the world today can be divided into three categories: Al Qaeda itself, which is an exclusively Arab organisation led by Laden; the International Islamic Front, which is a coalition of likeminded jihadi organisations of different countries formed by Laden in 1998; and other jihadi organisations inspired by him, which, however, operate autonomously without becoming members of the IIF.Posted by shanti at May 21, 2003 11:21 AM

I just hope that people won’t think that our victory will be achieved solely with al-Qaeda’s defeat. Not by a long shot. We have to defeat Hamas, Hizbollah, LeT, JI, Abu Sayyaf, and every other rotten terrorist group.
As Pres. Bush said, you’re either with us or you’re against us. From this perspective, India, Israel, America, and the Philippines are all fighting the same war.

Totally agree with that, Gokul - terrorism should be looked at as a whole. Once the destruction begins on one end, the rest of the structure will either learn its lessons and curb itself, or be defeated ultimately.

For the record, the “you’re either with us or you’re against us” line is a logical fallacy - false dilemma.
