ESPN.com - NBA Playoffs 2003 - Mavs' 'situational stop' D saves charity-filled effort
With 2:45 to play in Game 1 of the Lone Star Free Throw Invitational, Tim Duncan sank two freebies to give the San Antonio Spurs a five-point lead. The morning-after hoopla will undoubtedly focus on the Mavericks' unerring aim and the truly tortuous officiating that led to 98 foul shots combined in a three-hour tooth pull ... but don't overlook the fact that the Spurs didn't score another point in that final 2:45.Posted by shanti at May 20, 2003 7:01 AM

It’s the best start the Mavs could get. I hope they capitalize on this and get the momentum going. These sports writers have always downplayed the Mavs way of playing that it won’t help during play-offs. So far so good. We ‘ll have to see if we get past this series … Whatever, full credits to the Mavs and their coaching staff, Bruise-a-Bruce was cool!!

I like bruise-a-Bruce, I also like hack-a-Bowen
This was just too good of a game - I hope we win tomorrow. That will pretty much nail it for the Mavs - get a split in Dallas and close it out in SBC. Ha! Ha!:beam:

What a win, considering that we only led the game for a total of 67 sec!
We only made 40% of our field goals, but made 98% of our free throws! Thanks to this, and a clever defensive strategy, we won!:beam:

Oh, I agree - we lead for an extremely short time, but we lead during the right time ;) How do we get 98 freethrow attempts called total in a game, is completely beyond me, though - how bizarre
All this combined almost makes me wonder if the mavs are somehow going to win it all this year - things have just been coming together a little too good for them…..
