Now that Salam Pax, his existence and his motives have been done to death all over the blogosphere, I would like to see if there are any Iraqi women interested in blogging. I mean, we have the Iranian Girl, so it isn't like blogging is forbidden - now that Saddam's not in power anymore, I would guess that it isn't too dangerous for people to venture into the internet world.
Well, if there are any Iraqi women out there interested in blogging, drop me a line and I will provide you the web space for free :) We would love to hear from you.

Hello there. I thought you guys might be interested in a link that I have on my page. I-Feminists is the organization and it has really good information on classical feminism(not the brand peddled by NOW and other such leftist organizations).
Anyways, here is the link:

Great idea Shanti!!;)
Especially since the violence & looting have made Iraq’s women non-persons:

In addition I read articles in NYTimes & WaPo about the same subject.
Something must be done.

Thanks, Diana - it has been a historical certainty that whenever there is any kind of upheaval in the power structure of a country, the most immediate recriminations are felt by women mostly - physically, emotionally and mentally. Any little I can do for them, I will.

Well, perhaps when the electricity and phones are back on, we’ll see more Iraqi bloggers.
I’m very upset at how badly that has been going. Chaos was expected post-conflict, but ye gods, they’re botching the reconstruction so far.

True, David - I am hoping we can get our act together soon. I mean, it has definitely been a while since the majority of fighting ended - no more excuses.
