Just read it!

A very good column by Rajeev Srinivasan in Rediff talking about a lot of stuff - covering a lot of ground, from NRIs vs. "RNIs", communism, communalism, Marxism and everything in between. Thanks for pointing this out, L. Good one!

A very timely and well-written column.

It is nice to see the US does not have a monopoly on self-loathing Marxists.

The government is litterd with them, and have been since Indepdendence.

Oh, definitely - what else can we expect from the followers of “Nehruvian” politics? I especially like the term Rajeev uses - “stealth communists” :beam:

slightly off-topic but still staying with patriotism… have you read Dilip D’Souza’s article on Rediff??
http://www.rediff.com/news/2003/may/23dilip.htm

Is it just me or is Dilip D’Souza mixing up lots of topics under the garb of patriotism?

Posted by: Sameer at May 23, 2003 8:21 AM

Sameer, frankly speaking, I have no idea what Dilip is trying to get at. What is his message? What is his problem and what the heck is he proposing? We shouldn’t be patriotic? we shouldn’t be proud of the army?

That guy just drives me nuts - at least you know what Prafool’s agenda is as you do Varsha Bhosle’s. I don’t get Dilip D’Souza.

He cannot admit the idea of “I love my country more than others”. This does’nt mean that I hate the others. Would he love his neighbor’s family more than his own ??

There is nothing wrong with people having special attachments to the things they have a sense of belonging. Unfortunately for the pinkos, there are no such attachments. All they are committed is to is their idealogies.

This article is nothing but another case of propagating their hidden agenda.

It’s hard not to believe that one of the reasons that India’s economy is still lagging behind where it should be is because Marxists are still taken seriously there.

True, L and Dean. West Bengal, one of the states that have been strongholds for the communists in India, has got to be one of the worst states in India. I have relatives living close to Calcutta that I visited every year and Calcutta is one of the most appalling places I have ever been to.

Communism has got to go away from India, period!

These guys refuse to grow. One major contribution of WB is the ubiquitous Hindustan Motor’s “Ambassador”. Well, if there is an award for the most stagnant car model in design and development, you see this one is the winner. Recently, I saw a similar looking car in France, but it was obviously a 50’s vintage car!!

I agree, L - the “ambassador” is one car that has always looked the same since my childhood - I think its design is as old and stagnant as communism itself :)
