Religion, religion and more religion

Blogger will not let me link to the exact post, so go to this blog - The B. Files - and read the post dated, "Sunday, May 11, 2003". And then, read the comments - I have got to say I am thoroughly impressed by Gaurav's arguments. Those are some of the really well-thought-out and well-argued debate points I have seen about religion. Same goes for Adnan - call me a bigot, but I was pleasantly surprised to see him and Ubaid, two very open-minded Muslims participating in the debate. It was enlightening to say the least. Well said, Gaurav!

Thanks, Shanti.

What is sad is that Bushra didn’t quite see the point. And the so called “scientific” proofs she offered made me laugh so hard. The issue with her is the lack of understanding of what science is, besides what religion is.

Well, ignorance is bliss. :smartass:

I agree, Gaurav - I think it just points to one’s insecurity about one’s faith. Failure to question faith leads to blind following and intolerance of everything else. I thnk the whole world will be a better place the day people realize every religion and non-religion is a way to make human life more fulfilled and one is in no way better than others.

Hello…!! I surfed into the B-files through ur blog, Shanti… and it was really interesting! Going through her comments i agree with you… she was biased in her judgement (on Islam as well as Hinduism) and quite complaisant in her ignorance… but the thing was she was aaaah so ‘peaceful’ with her religion, but ! :smartass: But then… yesss we ought to be more open to differences… as if even Islam is followed excatly the same way everywhr… she will have a bit of a problem adjusting with ALL her ‘sisters’ i tell u :tongue3:

You are absolutely right, Sade. Good points you raise there.

Dear Shanti,

I agree with you here, but why do you have links to such vociferous opponents of Islam like LGF? Is not their hatred as bad as the hatred of some idiot fringe Muslims towards so-called “unbelievers”?

Anti-idiotarian? What a joke!

Gotta agree with Jabir here. Blind supporters of a religion are bad, but so are those who have visceral hatred for a religion. From what i read on LGF I found it as bad as a fundo site. It was on the other end of the fundo spectrum.

I agree sometimes Charles slips into the hatred of anything and everything Islamic. I also know how some of the ocmmenters are. I mainly read LGF for some of the news Charles manages to unearth. He does sometimes come up with things like Rachel Corrie’s background and BBC’s “leanings”, etc. that weren’t covered in that much detail by even Instapundit.

Everything else, I pretty much ignore - that is why you will see very few actual stories I link to form LGF.

That was some brilliant arguments from Gaurav. Non-threatening, yet put across very well. You don’t have to be sad if they could’nt understand … Once that happens, the world will a better place to thrive!!

Exactly, L - I think Gaurav did a great job of putting into words how most of us feel - I guess it is a pipedream to expect everyone to be understanding. I was still happy at the civil tone of the discussion and the points raised and the genuine curiosity displayed by some to learn about others.
