SRINAGAR, India (AFP) - Two people were killed and 48 others injured in two blasts in Kashmir, while five people died separately in an escalation of violence ahead of Indian Independence Day, police said. At least 44 people were wounded in a powerful explosion near a restaurant and a bank in the town of Bandipora, 60 kilometres (38 miles) north of Srinagar, the Kashmiri summer capital.Posted by shanti at August 13, 2003 11:24 AM
