Looong overdue!

US may include Pak in ‘axis of evil’ club - Sify.com
Islamabad: Pakistan is very close to becoming a member of the US’ “axis of evil” club because of its involvement in encouraging cross-border terrorism in India and being “the headquarters of a global mail-order business in nuclear-bomb technology”, the Daily Times quoted an article in The Economist as saying.
I think Pakistan should be the CEO of the “Axis of Evil”, with Saudi Arabia added in too for good measure as the CFO - now that will make the membership pretty complete…for now!

I know Many indians feel like that …sometimes me too ….but if you look at it practically its a very remote possibility …Americans still need Pakistan for its operation in afghanistan …and dumping an friend will be put Americans in very bad light around the word ….

Having said that …I don’t think I have any thing against the People of Pakistan …the fact is people at both sides have been brainwashed since a long period ….resulting in present day hatred …..

Random thinker - people on the Indian side are the ones trying to hold candle-light vigils in search of peace - how many Pakistanis do you see doing that? I disagree with the fact that people on both sides are brainwashed. People on the Indian side makeup their own mind - it is the Pakistanis whose access to anything is tightly controlled by the military government they have been under most of their lives.

Mail order business of terrorism. Ha! Nice one that. Will be repeating it to all my friends:beam::beam:

I thought that was pretty neat too, Ravages - I wonder if they accept personal checks or only major credit cards ;)

I too could never understand this moral equivalency by some who argue that politicians on both sides are stirring up nationalism. Last I checked, Indian voters seemed far more interested in which party could deliver drinking water. On those rare occiasion when Pakistan holds an election that isn’t overturned by the army, they put much more stock in the conflic with India.

I think much of it has to do with Pakistan’s Punjabi majority. There is quite a bit of similarity between Kashmiri and Punjabi culture, and so Pak Punjabis make feel more of an ethnic tie than say a Sindhi or Baloch. But because Punjabis dominate, they set the agenda for the country as a whole.

I notice that bad news about Pakistan seems to come out when the U.S. needs something from them. This must be the stick side of diplomacy.

Very true, KXB!

On the contrary, the US has designated Pakistan a major non NATO ally !

There was no need for this - a military partnership that will only entrench the military dictatorship.

I was hoping all those were carrots designed to get Pakistan to drop its terroristic activities, Nitin. Unfortunately, it only seems to have emboldened the Pakistani leadership.

I’m pretty disappointed by the designation as a “non-NATO ally.” And after all that hooey about closing in on a “high value target” last week, which, coincidentally, was when Powell was in town. It was thought Powell would press the issue of A.Q. Khan, but the Pakistani military decided to undetake a major operation that week to draw attentiona away from that. And the press ate it up. By the end of the week, all they head were a handful of dead Uzbeks and Chechens.

KXB, I think the Pakistanis are getting pretty good at this game. Every time it seems like they come under fire, they find something or the other to keep the heat away. It is very frustrating to see them get away with the crap over and over again.

You people except one broad minded thinker are enclosed in racial and religious prejudice. What do you think Indian soldiers are doing in Kashmir - raping , killing stealing - terrorism ? No ? But your so bitter about your hsitory and muslim dominance and idealogy that you can’t see beyond your noses!
Oh & they get zee tv and star and your news also!

Bluemarina, do you know you are defending Pakistan here and not the entire Muslim race? Do you know that Kashmir in India recently had democratic elections? Are you a total moron?
