A private intelligence firm hired by the United Nations to look into corruption in the oil-for-food program provided valuable leads to U.N. investigators, but they were ignored, the company’s director says. “We found it extremely frustrating to be in a position where we could do something significant to dramatically assist the investigation into the oil-for-food fraud and not be allowed to proceed,” said Derek Baldwin, director of operations for IBIS Risk Management Services Inc.I thought the UN was getting all open about its methods now…Oops, guess not…read on…
Meanwhile, a U.N. panel investigating the humanitarian program yesterday refused to release documents to two U.S. senators, who last week accused U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan in a letter of blocking their subcommittee’s probe into the matter. In his reply to the letter sent by Sens. Norm Coleman, Minnesota Republican, and Carl Levin, Michigan Democrat, obtained by Agence France-Presse, U.N. panel chief Paul Volcker pledged to release “all evidence” bearing on its reports and findings but insisted that now was not the time to do so.Yeah, let us just wait till everyone forgets about the scandal and then release the documents quietly into the night, eh?

OIL FOR FOOD IS A FRAUD: Oil for Bombs is the real War Crime!
Farhat Quaemmaquami
No one seems to be interested in investigating the real War Crime in Iraq which is being pounded by thousands of tons of bombs and the banned depleted uranium shells every day. Billions of dollars of oil revenues are being siphoned out of Iraq by the occupation force and its puppet regime and no-one shows interest, including the so-called progressive media. Yet, the UN Oil for Food scandal, which harmed nobody, is being used to blackmail the UN officials into silence. It is obvious that the U.S. through its Death Squad Diplomacy is putting Oil For Food program in the Front Page of every corporate Media , to cover-up, distort, and co-opt the UN officials into silence.
UN has been chastised by the United States for allowing the legal government of Iraq from buying food for its starving population under the most brutal sanction ever imposed on a country. According to the United Nations own research more than 1000,0000 Iraqi’ children died from mal-nutrition, contaminated water, lack of medicine, and medical help, in this period. Yet the corporate media in the Us feeds the world
About the Oil for food to halt any investigation of its War Crimes in Iraq. Under genocidal policy of the occupation force every façade of Iraqis life has been devastated and nobody seems to care.
Now it has become clear that the United States was using sanctions and weapon inspection regime, as an evil method, not only to bring down the regime, but also to destroy the whole fabric of Iraqi society and immobilize its national defenses in preparation for the planned American invasion. During this period many in the United Nations, including Kufi Annan’s son ,who were repulsed by the suffering of Iraqis under the sadistic system of sanctions, extended a helping hand so that Iraq may exchange oil for the goods that were vital for the survival and defense of their population. Naturally, they were paid a commission on the total amount of 1.4 billion dollars the total amount that Iraq could have cheated the unjustified system of sanction during ten years of sanction. Most of the money was trickled back into Iraq and was the key to Iraqis economic survival. Saddam’s regime.
There exist no evidence of Annan’s involvement. However, there exist a body of facts that prove the complicity of Bush and Clinton Administration in the Oil For Food Program. Then the “packaged“ propaganda of this administration makes an issue out of nothing just to blackmail Kufi into cooperation. Look how this administration blackmailed Vatican by sudden surge of pedophilia investigations in the US before invasion to silence the Church.
The United Nation has to come forward and declare that those who did it had humanitarian intentions in mind and their crime whatever it might be should and must be compared with War Crimes of the US, which is in violation of the UN Charter has illegally occupied Iraq , committed massacre in Fallujah, has committed War Crimes and is committing international armed rubbery by stealing most of its oil revenues, and in exchange dropping bombs on them!! May be as it is customary these cases must be consolidated in one Grand Tribunal.
Just during the first year of occupation 8.8 billion dollars of Iraqi money disappeared under the Provisional Authority of Paul Bremer regime. There is 7 billion dollars difference in one year alone and we have not seen any discussion of this great rubbery of 21st century, in the corporate media. In addition there is no accounting of what happened to all Iraqi oil revenue since the occupation. It has not been used neither for food and water nor providing for health, sanitation and welfare of Iraqis. Iraqi children are twice as malnourished as during the draconian sanction. Mortality rate has increased and Iraqis are dying by hundreds a day of curable simple deceases. All rivers of Iraq are badly polluted and the eco system o Iraq is being obliterated.
Then what is the big fuss about Kofi Annan and the Oil for Food Program? Oil for Bombs are fine and all Iraqis have got form their “liberators” is an assortment of bombs . It is pathetic that the sanitized media, right left and the center, who beat the drums of accountability against Kofi Annan, have not once mentioned the unaccountable Oil for Bomb program that the US. had been operating. It is believed that lack of vigor the revelation that there might be surveillance tapes which might expose incidents of sex, drugs and many other scandals. Otherwise, there can be no other justification for their silence regarding the War Crimes, abuse of Human Rights and the Cardinal Crime the “Thanksgiving Massacre in Fallujah”, in Iraq.
It is part of the pattern of the often ignored Death Squad Diplomacy that the United States is using to emasculate the United Nation. If Kofi Anan is chased into a corner he cannot attend the affair of the United Nations. Apart from occasional grumbling , the chief law enforcement office of the world ,Kofi Anan , has been gutless Yes man; but, that is not good enough for this administration. Therefore, he must be leashed further or replaced by a Neo-Con mouthpiece of the United States. The United Nations died when the US violated its charter by introducing the Doctrine of pre-emption.
At this historical moment ,when the Iraqi’s have received bombs and depleted Uranium for their oil the United States needs a secretary General who would advocate an Oil for Bomb Program and understands that every Barrel of Iraq’s oil would be exchanged for a variety bombs, bomblets, cluster bombs and depleted Uranium shells to destroy not only the habitat of Iraqis but the totality of their ecosystem.
This kind of death squad diplomacy is being imposed on the whole Middle East, in order to guarantee American control of oil supplies. The sick genocidal policy is based in obliterating the will to resist by any means. It maybe achieved , as was done in Massacre of Bali under CIA’s direction, by creating terror, fear and insecurity in one half and bombing by the other half of the population into death, destruction ,dependency and sickness one might be able to instigate a sense of hopelessness that would quell the insurgency for now. People would be intimidated to submission when despair would conquer their heart . Anybody who doubts in this program must look how the republican applauded Bolton ,an anti-UN proponent of Death Squad Diplomacy, to be Americas Representative in the U.N. He would replace the former Death Squad Theoretician John Negroponte who was not tough enough!
Humanists of any kind must tear the curtain of silence and fear and come out and expose the hypocrisy of the US administration that is engaged in the bloody trade of Oil for Bobs every day yet has the audacity of going after the UN violation of its Oil for Food Program.

Gadfly, if you have something of substance to add to the debate, go ahead. To copy and paste entire articles written by someone else as an argument is a little lame and not likely to change any minds - especially, when you don’t even tell us who the source is.

First of all the name of guy is up there. who careswho writes what . it is the message! His message is right and all I care. UN has beocme emasculated by the US blackmail of food program and there is nothing they can do. The black mail is far deeper than food. After it was revealed that there were phone taps and vedio recoridng of events every body has shut down. The UNis dead now. It better closes the shop.

gadfly, it really doesn’t matter to me who writes something. What matters to me are sources, facts and such. Screeds are fun in blogs and opinion columns but don’t work too welll as arguments.
