This is going to keep me away from Google adwords - atleast till I make up my mind about how much I really want to invest in my online business. I don’t think it is fair for competitors to click on Google ads to run their opponent’s budget dry - that is just dirty business!
Why don’t they just put a barcode on their flippin’ foreheads already!
Karl Malone will retire now - I guess Tim Duncan didn’t want to let him ride his coattails to the Championship - Reggie Miller will retire next season - another great player retiring without a ring!
Oh, and blogging about your work can get you fired…even if you don’t name your place of employment or any such identifying information.

Listed below are links to weblogs that reference News Roundup:
there was also an article in the Economist about how blogging is becoming more and more accepted in companies these days, and about how it is starting to take on the role of traditional PR. that’s the half-full side of the problem, perhaps.
I had blogged on that here.

A terrific article in the NY Times Sunday magazine, about how the NBA as a whole is growing ever more ignorant of the fundamentals of the game, preferring instead to live in a world of slam dunks and three pointers. And endorsement deals.

Avinash, smart businesses evolve with technology instead of inhibiting its growth. As for NBA, isn’t it strange that Tim Duncan is hailed as great for just sticking to the fundamentals? (Even he is a little iffy with his jump-shots) - why should a player be praised for something that everyone should be doing in an ideal world?
Raj, like a poster on a Dallas Mavs board said, let Antawn be the All-Star, us Mavs will be happy to be the Champions instead :tongue3:
I actually like Jamison a lot, so I really wish him all the best!

Yeah I think Duncan is praised precisely because he seems to be the exception to the general rule of players in the NBA being ill-schooled in the ‘fundamentals’.
I agree with you though - ultimately, businesses merely serve up what they believe their customers want. Players wouldn’t grow up craving dunking skills over shooting skills if they weren’t also aware that the public is wowed more by the former. I supect that the article was a bit of a rant at seeing these “world champions” lose to tin pot little countries:)
And I think your Mavericks have no chance. not while my Kings are around:) Sadly, my Kings have very little chance too. As long as those Spurs are around!

If only the Mavs and Kings played a little defense….they could legitimately contend for the title. Scoring 100+ in every game is fine but without any defense, there is no chance in a 5 or 7 game series.

Avinash, I think your Kings have a great bench but are not playing well as a team anymore. Maybe Peja needs to be traded before the team gets cohesive again.
Spurs…I think they are by far the best in the NBA right now without any question, which is why I thought it was ridiculous to have only two Spurs in the All-Star game and three Suns.
Raj, believe it or not, Mavericks won against Miami, Sacramento and Seattle yesterday by clamping down on defense when it mattered :) Just wait till Stack and Marquis are back.

I saw that game: Dal/SAC…last Thu, I think.
seemed like playground basketball for the first 36 minutes, and playoff basketball for the remaining 12. regardless, it made for 48 min of compelling viewing.
As an aside, I think that along with votes for all-star players, they should have voting, also by fans/public, for all-star commentators.
My fav pair is Mike Breen and Bill Walton. Enjoy their broadcasts enormously!!
