Here is a story of a blogger who was forced to resign from his job - all for the mistake of linking to a story that a sham business school didn’t like - Vantage point: An Update!
This sort of thing amazes me all the time. If someone is so sure of their righteousness, I would expect to them to be transparent to the public in their operations, put all facts forward and let the chips fall as they may. Instead of that, this sham business school (yeah, try suing me for that, morons!) just tries to cut off the voices of those who dare to speak against it. If I were a student, I would first be outraged at the management for successfully conning me (what kind of a businessperson would I be if I were so gullible!) and would stand for my fellow citizens’ right to free speech, especially when they are indirectly working on my behalf.
Here is a more full accounting of the story. Read it and decide for yourselves.
update: Check here for the wikipedia entry on IIPM.

Shanti, can you consider doing this on your blog too?

I’m shocked that a person of Gaurav caliber had to lose his job over this.
I never heard of IIPM before, but now the impression left in my find is not a favorable one. Given their rather thuggish behavior, one wonders if the institution is controlled by criminals.
I believe we can’t let IIPM off the hook for this. News media should be alerted towards their deplorable behavior.

Niraj, honestly speaking I had no idea who Rashmi/JAM/IIPM was and I have no bone in the fight so to speak. Gaurav is the only person I knew for a while regarding this whole issue and I have no reason to disbelieve his post. It is horrible that these nitwits tried to blackmail IBM into getting Gaurav fired.
I think IIPM made a big mistake when they tried to act goonda-like and try to intimidate people into silence with their despicable tactics. They have stirred the hornet’s nest and normally disinterested people like you and me have now joined the fight. I hope the MSM picks up the fight since Dilip D’Souza is now aware and the IIPM idiots get what they deserve not only for trying to shut people down but for the bigger offense of playing with the futures of people who pay them big money in hopes of hitting it big in the job market.

Shanti,
I just discussed the legal ramifications of this in my blog - quite honestly, I’m not even sure how this can constitute libel.
Even my non-lawyerish puny geeky mind can understand this.
=shakes head=
There are several criteria that need to be proven for libel, and it would seem that Rashmi, Gaurav and the rest can counter-sue for false claims of libel and have IIPM’s ass.

Metlin - I think they should sue IIPM back for 125+175 - 300 crores - laughing all the way to the bank!
