I am spitting mad at the cut-and-run chickens right now - looks like Barack Obama has joined in on the chorus too. Hello, folks! How irresponsible are y’all! Isn’t this the exact kind of thing that will prove to the world once again that when it comes to the rest of the world, America just the biggest bag of hot-air? Talk the big talk but fold it up quick as a lightning when it comes time to walk the walk?
I don’t get it! Are the Democrats trying to improve the image of America or cement it at the bottom of history under the category, “blunders for the ages”….
Here is part 2 of a soul searcher of an article from Dr. Alamgir Hussan about the “perpetual victim syndrome” that seems to have been infecting a lot of Muslims lately - Desicritics.org: Islamic Terrorism and the Injustice Myth, Part 2. There is a link to the first part within the post. I applaud this man’s honest attempt to look inward and hope that other Muslims join him on the journey.
It was pretty interesting that the usual apologizers at DC were already scoffing at the effort or missing in action completely. Not exactly a heartening sign when people think that debate is somehow forbidden unless it is about someone else’s faith.
While a pretty interesting happening on its own right, this sure raises a few questions in my mind. The excerpt below states that Ellison held several strongly liberal positions -
First Muslim elected to Congress - Politics - MSNBC.comHe advocates an immediate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq along with strongly liberal views. While Ellison did not often speak of his faith during the campaign, awareness of his candidacy drew interest from Muslims well beyond the district centered in Minneapolis.Ummm…..except for his anti-war position, what are his other strongly liberal positions? Is he pro-gay marriage? pro-choice? His wikipedia entry doesn’t say much and the article is strangely silent too. Unless being anti-war is the only requirement to be strongly liberal, what other positions does Ellison hold? Did he speak out against his “brothers” during the cab-driver problem? Is he really a liberal?
Dilip brought it to my attention as a comment to a post below, that the Jessica Lal case accused is now being represented by Ram Jethmalani - one of the most famous criminal defenders in India - Jethmalani wants Jessica case transferred to another court - News.Indlaw.com. I think my first reaction honestly, would have been an eye-roll saying, “here he goes again!”, referring to Jethmalani. He is of course, quite famous for taking up high profile cases - defending those who were undefendable if you take the media’s word for it.
I actually think it is awesome that there is someone who wants to make sure there is not a trial by media, but an actual serving of justice where even a criminal gets his day in court represented by a competent lawyer. There is always the problem that only the rich can pay for representation like this, which also leads to the notion that Mr. Jetmalani takes bug bucks to set criminals free. Considering the sensationalistic nature and coverage of the current media, I appreciate lawyers like Mr.Jethmalani who will make sure there is no pile-on and a decent trial that wouldn’t convict someone of things they haven’t committed just because the media might have found a convenient scapegoat to make their story.

It is kinda not right to call this baby stuff anymore - have you seen him recently? (I promise to put up his picture in his Halloween costume this evening). He went as Buzz Lightyear, his favorite Space Ranger. This was Neel’s first ever trick-or-treating, so mommy was a little curious to see how her shy boy would fare in the kid-eat-kid-for-candy world of Halloween.
Not too shabby, really!
He did start of initially by mumbling “trickatreat” from behind his mommy before grabbing the candy and taking off after another mumbled “thankyou”. As the candy started collecting in his little pumpkin pail, he started getting bolder and into the thick of things. He was screaming, “To infinity and beyond!” like Buzz Lightyear and his “trickatreat” (that is how is says it, all one word) was a little more audible than before.
We managed to tour around the block for about an hour before I convinced him we needed to turn back. He was so excited about his candy, he could have gone on the entire night :) It was a fun experience - even funnier was how tightly he clutched his pail to himself every time some trick-or-treaters rang our doorbell - he was afraid mommy might give his candy away…Heh!
