More nanny state

I guess today is my day to find everything Ann Althouse posts interesting (well, almost everything anyways) and comments on it.

BREITBART.COM - Bangor Makes It Illegal to Smoke in Cars

This link really made me go, “Oh, come on!” - again, I am not a smoker. I hate smoke. My husband smokes, but always in a safe distance from Neel and never in his car with Neel. That aside, I find it really intrusive. Who gives a damn what someone does in his car?

If smoking in the car is hurting someone other than who is in the car, I admit there is a point - see the laws about DUI, etc. - but why should the state care if someone smokes in their own damn car?

It is for the children ™, y’all!

Tolerance for you...not me

This comment by a certain Sanjay on Ann Althouse’s blog prompted me to make a post out of something that I normally would simply ignore. The issue is a set of Muslims asking to be allowed to pray in a church that was apparently a mosque forcibly converted to a church many eons ago.

Althouse: Muslims praying in the cathedral.

(btw, “the tiger” is wrong: I’d have a hard time not assigning most of blame to “strife over holy sites in India” to Hindu nationalists —- NOT Muslims. I have vivid memories of dropping in on the normally freakishly calm and impassive Hindu holy man who married us, and seeing him choking and weeping over the pettiness of our co-religionists).

You know what is really interesting about the comment? The fact that the commentor thinks Hindu Nationalists are pigs for demanding essentially the same thing that the Muslims are in the linked story, and…he is defending the Muslims. Go Figure!

Go Mavs!

What a sweet thing it is, to have the Mavs kick the crap out of San Antonio Spurs while playing like crap themselves…on the road…on the second night of a back-to-back! Phew! I am way too drunk and jazzed (“jazz”ed? Hmmm… - Ed) to post more, but I shore happies ;)

Oh, isn’t it crazy how incongruous the jock talk is against the pink template for this blog?

India doesn't need no help

I mean, if Indian activists have so much free time that they are fuming and suing at stupid starlets dancing half-naked at New Year’s Eve parties, then India has progressed way more than people like us realize….doncha think?

Activist seeks police action against Mallika
Activist Vinod Jain said he had approached the police after watching Sherawat’s performance on certain television channels.

Of course, the irony of the thing is that this dude didn’t even shell out the ticket money to see the “performance” in person.
